HMS Bergbau AG secures more than 1 billion tonnes of geological coal resources

– 100% acquisition of Śląski Węgiel Żory – Suszec Sp. Z.o.o.

– Two exploration licences included

– Development of exploration projects to begin immediately

Berlin, 12 February 2014: HMS Bergbau AG, an international coal supplier with operating know-how of coal mining, transport and trade, announces its 100% acquisition of Polish company Śląski Węgiel Żory – Suszec Sp. Z.o.o. The acquired company currently holds exploration licenses for the Orzesze and Studzionka-Mizerów regions. With over 1 billion tonnes of geological coal resources, these two regions located in Silesia offer high potential in terms of mining. The development phase of the first project will be initiated immediately. Until the mining licence is acquired in approximately 12 to 18 months’ time, HMS Bergbau AG will invest approximately EUR 1 million, which includes costs related to the acquisition of the company.

‘We are very pleased that we were able to secure two extremely interesting development projects with this acquisition. Once the mining licence is acquired, we will be bringing a project partner on board in order to ensure optimum production of the existing deposits of high-quality steam coal and coking coal. In addition to project development, HMS Bergbau AG intends to ensure successful marketing via our international coal trading structures,’ said Heinz Schernikau, CEO of HMS Bergbau AG.
