With effect from April 20, 1999 the Wiesbaden-based IT services provider will acquire a 25.5 percent equity interest in the company via its subsidiary, plenum Systeme GmbH. engram is thus the fourth company after DataDesign AG, Munich, Prodacta AG, Ettlingen, and the Internet agency Digital Advertising GmbH, Ottobrunn in which plenum has entered into a strategic partnership by acquiring an equity interest since going public on August 3, 1998. Multimedia systems integrator engram designs and implements interactive communications solutions, primarily in the customer care area. The company offers a full range of services, from analysis through design and technical implementation down to training and implementation support. For example, engram has implemented POS systems, software for Internet-based self-service terminals, video banking systems and Internet marketing concepts for its customers. One major point which both plenum AG and engram GmbH have in common is their focus on the financial services sector. Thus engram has more than one hundred customers in the banking and savings banks sector. In addition, it produces multimedia solutions for well-known companies in the automotive, chemicals and computer industry. The majority shareholding in engram GmbH, which was founded in 1990, belongs to the founders Wünderlich and Koch. Since 1997, BE Gruppe Bankentechnik, an intermediate holding company of Berliner Elektro Holding AG, Berlin, has held a 24 percent minority interest. In the 1998 fiscal year, engram’s 28 employees generated sales of around DM 3.7 million. In the coming year, the company expects to increase sales by roughly 38 percent, to DM 5.1 million.
