Januar 2000 eine Beteiligung von 25,1 Prozent an der IBL Ingenieurbüro Letters GmbH mit Sitz in Leinfelden. Dadurch sichert sich das plenum Netzwerk Kompetenz in einer Schlüsseltechnologie, die für die wirtschaftliche Softwareentwicklung bei Großunternehmen von erheblicher Bedeutung sein wird. Gemeinsame Produktentwicklungsgesellschaft Avantis Gemeinsam mit IBL hat plenum die Produktentwicklungsgesellschaft Avantis GmbH gegründet, um in das lukrative lizenzbasierte Geschäft mit Softwareprodukten einzusteigen. An der Avantis GmbH hält plenum einen Anteil von 50 Prozent plus einer Option auf weitere 0,1 Prozent. Kern der gemeinsamen Aktivitäten ist die Weiterentwicklung des Softwareentwicklungswerkzeuges “Polar” von IBL. Zudem soll die von der plenum Systeme entwickelte Integrationsplattform von Internettechnologien und Großcomputersystemen zur Produktreife geführt und mit “Polar” verbunden werden. plenum zielt mit diesem Softwareprodukt auf Großunternehmen aller Branchen, die darunter leiden, daß eine Verbindung zwischen neuen Internet-Technologien und bestehenden Großcomputern gar nicht oder nur unbefriedigend funktioniert. Zur Integration dieser Plattformen stellen plenum und IBL nun eine effiziente Lösung bereit. plenum wird kräftig in die Produktentwicklung investieren und das Produktgeschäft auch in anderen Schlüsseltechnologien weiter ausbauen. IBL verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung in objektorientierten Technologien und ist damit einer der Schrittmacher in der Softwareentwicklung in Deutschland. Für das IBL-Entwicklungswerkzeug “Polar” existieren weltweit nur zwei konkurrierende Produkte. “Polar” wird bereits bei über 30 IBL-Kunden eingesetzt und erhöht deren Effizienz an den kritischen Stellen im modernen Softwareentwicklungsprozeß um bis zu 200 Prozent. IBL mit starkem Umsatzwachstum Im Geschäftsjahr 1998 stieg der Umsatz von IBL kräftig um rund 44 Prozent auf DM 8,2 Mio. (Vj. 5,7) bei einer Vorsteuerrendite von 16,3 Prozent. Für das laufende Geschäftsjahr rechnet IBL bei etwa gleichbleibender Rendite mit einem weiteren Umsatzwachstum auf DM 10,0 Mio. Das Unternehmen, das mit einer erfolgreichen Tochtergesellschaft auch auf dem Schweizer Markt vertreten ist, beschäftigt derzeit etwa 40 hochqualifizierte Ingenieure und Informatiker. With effect from 1 January 2000, plenum acquires a 25.1 percent interest in IBL Ingenieurbüro Letters GmbH, based in Leinfelden. The move guarantees the plenum Network’s access to a key technology that will play a major role in cost-effective software development within large enterprises. Joint product development company, Avantis plenum has founded a joint product development company, Avantis GmbH, together with IBL as a means of entering the lucrative license-based software products market, plenum has an interest of 50 percent plus an option on a further 0.1 percent in the company. The focus of the joint activities will be on the further development of IBL’s “Polar” software development tool. In addition, plenum Systeme’s platform for integrating Internet technologies and mainframe systems will be developed to market readiness and integrated with “Polar”. With this software product plenum targets large enterprises in all sectors which suffer from the fact that there is no (or no efficient) way of integrating new Internet technologies with existing mainframes. plenum and IBL offer an efficient solution for the integration of these platforms. plenum will invest substantially in product development and plans to further expand its product business to cover other key technologies. IBL has many years’ experience of object-oriented technologies, putting it in the vanguard of software development in Germany. It’s “Polar” development tool has only two competitor products worldwide. “Polar” is already used by over 30 IBL customers, where it improves efficiency in the critical areas of modern software development by up to 200 percent. IBL records strong sales growth In the 1998 financial year, IBL’s sales rose sharply by approx. 44 percent to DM 8.2 million. (1997: DM 5.7 million), with a pre-tax return of 16.3 percent. For the current financial year, IBL is forecasting that the return will remain relatively constant, while sales will continue to grow, to DM 10.0 million. The company, which also has a successful subsidiary in Switzerland, currently employs roughly 40 highly qualified engineers and computer scientists.
