plenum AG turns profit in H1 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– – Revenues at EUR 20.7 million – EBITDA of around EUR 0.7 million Wiesbaden, August 28, 2003 In the first half of fiscal 2003, plenum AG generated revenues of around EUR 20.7 million (previous year: EUR 24.1 million). Despite a fall in revenues and after a loss of around EUR 1.1 million (EBITDA) as of the end of last year, a positive EBITDA of roughly EUR 0.7 million and net income of around EUR 140 thousand were recorded in H1/2003. As a result, earnings per share for the first two quarters amounted to EUR 0.01 for 9,577,068 no-par value shares. In Q2, plenum’s revenues remained essentially stable as against the previous period, amounting to around EUR 10.1 million (Q1: EUR 10.6 million). The Company again generated a positive EBITDA of EUR 0.3 million (Q1: EUR 0.4 million) and positive net income. This underlines the fact that profitability remains the primary goal of plenum’s management. To ensure the Company’s profitability for fiscal 2003 as a whole, a comprehensive program entitled FOKUS was launched at the start of the year, and has already been implemented to a large extent. As well as the further optimization of the cost and workforce structure, the activities of the program are aimed largely at the customer market, with the key elements being a focus on core services, customer retention, and a sales initiative. Given the current economic climate, only slight signs of recovery are expected to emerge in the second half of the year. As such, there is unlikely to be any significant increase in investment by plenum’s customers until fiscal 2004. The Managing Board therefore expects business developments to remain stable in H2, with positive consolidated net income, and revenues remaining at the level recorded in the first six months.
