The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– An encouraging increase in SHS’s turnover by 134 per cent compared to the first three months of the previous year – Personnel reinforcement to cope with new Orders Munich, 15th May, 2001 – SHS Informationssysteme AG has recorded an encouraging increase in turnover for the First Quarter of this year. The European group generated a turnover of EUR 6.52 million in the first three months of the current fiscal year (Turnover in the previous First Quarter: EUR 2.79 million). This represents an increase of 134 per cent compared to the First Quarter of the previous year. The total operating performance (including turnover, inventories and work in progress, and own work capitalized) was at EUR 7.31 million. Taken individually, SHS showed in France and Italy a particularly strong performance in terms of growth in turnover. SHS France, with EUR 0.55 million of turnover recorded in the First Quarter, has already achieved 46 per cent of its total turnover for the previous year. In order to be able to cope with the healthy order book situation, SHS increased its recruiting activities in the period under review; this resulted in the number of employees being increased by some 15 per cent to 455 persons during the three month period. Despite the expenses for the recruitment and training of the new employees and additional Investments in marketing, the EBITDA was at EUR 0.24 million in the First Quarter. Due to the scheduled amortization (so-called “goodwill amortization”) on the goodwill associated with the Spanish Polar Group taken over last year and other depreciation, the results of operations (EBIT) were negative at EUR 0.15 million.
