First Data opts for credit risk software from SHS:
Cooperation in the credit card business
Munich, January 19, 2005 – Munich-based IT service provider SHS
Informationssysteme AG today announced its cooperation with First Data
International. First Data will be using “GUARDEAN”, the credit risk software
solution from SHS, for credit decisioning with new customers. First Data is
one of the world’s leading credit card settlement service providers. In
Germany, the company’s subsidiary TeleCash is one of the leading providers of
cashless payment systems.
GUARDEAN checks the customer’s credit standing within just a few moments. In
doing so, the system enables access to almost 40 credit reference agencies
throughout Europe. The benefits for First Data are twofold: applications can
be processed faster and credit losses are reduced. Jason Van Hulse, Director
Credit Systems at First Data Corporation, comments: “The efficiency of the SHS
software in terms of cost and time reduction is second to none in the
market.”
The GUARDEAN system will initially be used in Germany for checking the credit
standing of new Postbank POS transact credit card customers. Plans are to
expand the collaboration between First Data and SHS to further markets in
Europe and possibly beyond. “GUARDEAN is ideal for us because we can use the
software on an international scale as well,” says Jason Van Hulse. “The
solution can also be integrated seamlessly into our system, which makes many
things easier and saves money.”
“We look forward to cooperating with First Data,” says Dirk Roesing, chief
executive officer of SHS AG. “After BMW Bank and BARCLAYCARD, First Data is
yet another internationally operating group that has been impressed by the
advantages offered by our GUARDEAN software.”
