bmp AG: Financial Results For The First Quarter 2002 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– During the first quarter 2002 bmp has succesfully completed the announced restructering program. Despite a 95% turnover decrease to 82 TEUR in the first quarter compared to the previous year all important financial key data improved significantly. EBITDA reduced from minus 1.567 TEUR to minus 735 TEUR and the consolidated net loss reduced from minus 2.204 TEUR to minus 871 TEUR. With the exception of a minor management buy back there was no exit from the portfolio in the first quarter. At the same time there was no need for additional depreciations of financial assets. The Net Asset Value (NAV) accounted 0,80 EUR per share at March 31st after 0,81 per share at December 31st 2001 and was almost unchanged. The management expects a further improvement of the NAV over the year because most of the portfolio companies were evaluated at zero or at book value in the NAV. The final Annual Report 2001 corresponds substantially with the preliminary results published March 18th 2002. The consolidated net loss increased slightly by 300 TEUR as a result of higher then expected depreciation of financial assets. The Annual Report 2001 and the Quarterly Report for the First Quarter 2002 will be available at the end of May. For the full financial year 2002 the management anticipates ongoing decreasing operating costs and interest expenses and a operating loss of 3.000 TEUR. If there will be some exits from the portfolio in this difficult market environment bmp might achieve a balanced result for 2002.
