Tempe (Arizona) / USA, May 11, 2009 - COLEXON Energy AG has realized its
first solar power plant in the USA on the roof of the Arizona State
University in Tempe/USA. For the 108 kWp plant 1,440 thin film modules of
the world's market leader First Solar were installed on a roof area of
2,700 sqm. It is one of the first PV project with First Solar modules in
Arizona/USA, which is not directly realized by First Solar itself but by
another partner company.
In this context, the US subsidiary COLEXON Corp. sold an integrated
photovoltaics solution incl. planning and project development
recommendations to subcontractor Southwest Energy Solutions (SES) Solar
Inc., who acted as general contractor for the construction of solar power
plants. Investor is the Integrys Energy Services Inc., an investment group
operating worldwide in the area of regenerative energies.
As substructure of the solar modules a Schletter system especially suitable
for flat roofs was used. Since commissioning 18 inverters produce approx.
194,400 kilowatt hours (kWh) in total of pure power per year. Consequently,
the solar power plant saves approx. 172 tons of the greenhouse gas carbon
dioxide.
