20 September 2016 Telefónica Deutschland announces new O 2 tariff portfolio Today Telefónica Deutschland announces the launch of its new O 2 smartphone tariff portfolio ‘O 2 Free’ for 5 October 2016. The new proposition targets the premium customer segment and consists of the following bundles:

Free S: Monthly fee EUR 24.99; unlimited voice and SMS; 1GB of data
All tariffs include usage of 4G LTE at maximum speeds up to the respective data allowance included, as well as a 3G flat. On 3G, customers will be throttled to 1 Mbps once they exceed their 4G allowance. Existing O 2 Blue All-in customers can buy an upgrade package. All tariffs also include European roaming up to 1GB. The new proposition reflects our mobile-centric strategy with a clear focus on retaining and developing our premium customer base. Our 4G proposition includes more content for higher price points, thus enabling us to satisfy growing customer demand for more data and monetise this trend at the same time. By offering our customers a range of added-value services as well as ‘peace of mind’ in terms of data consumption, we encourage them to use their mobile devices freely. Extensive trials have shown that currently access is more important to our customers than bandwidth. By enabling them to continue surfing beyond their 4G data package at reduced 3G speeds, we are evolving our data automatic concept and remove a perceived glass ceiling. Telefónica Deutschland already has the largest 3G network in Germany to accommodate growing data usage. We are now shifting our focus to 4G as the technology of the future and have started the physical integration of our 4G networks in July 2016. In the coming years we will continue to push ahead with a clear focus on Capex efficiency and the target of building a network which offers our customers a fast, seamless 4G experience across Germany.
