June 26th, 2014 - Asetek® announced today that it has received a
purchase order for its RackCDUT data center liquid cooling
system (http://asetek.com/data-center/data-center-coolers/rackcdu
-d2c.aspx) placed by one of its Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM)
partners for immediate delivery. The order is the largest Asetek has
received so far on its RackCDU products with a value of approximately
$350,000, and includes liquid cooling for 29 racks.
The order is for an undisclosed top US federal HPC data center and will
be one of the largest warm water data center liquid cooling
installations in the world. The liquid cooling loops will cool and
remove all heat from the processors and ensure the cluster maintains
maximum energy efficiency and performance while keeping operating costs
at a minimum.
"As predicted, building an OEM based business on a new and disruptive
technology takes time and stamina. As such, it is rewarding to see our
hard work and strategy pay off with this order. The order is a direct
result of our business development activities towards end users and in
close cooperation with one of our OEM customers," said André Sloth
Eriksen, Founder and CEO of Asetek.
"We still have a way to go before our business model and market adoption
rates are where we want them, but this order makes it appropriate to
talk about a significant installation. The delivery is to take place as
one big shipment and, therefore, it is a good opportunity to optimize
and test our manufacturing setup," Eriksen continued.
RackCDU is Asetek's innovative hot water, direct-to-chip, data center
liquid cooling technology, which removes heat from CPUs, GPUs, memory
modules and other hot spots within servers, using an all-liquid path and
rejecting the heat into ambient outdoor air without chilling. As
validated by Lawrence Berkeley National
Labs (http://www.asetek.com/press-room/news/2013/new-california-energy
-commission-study-validates-energy-savings-of-asetek%C2%AE-rackcdu-for
-data-centers.aspx), RackCDU enables cooling savings in excess of 50%,
density increases of 2.5x to 5.0x, and recovery of all the server energy
removed by RackCDU for reuse in facility heating and cooling.
