Biotest sells its shareholding in Envitec
Dreieich, 10 June 2003. Biotest has sold its 60% shareholding in Envitec-Wismar
GmbH, Wismar, to a holding company formed by LB Kiel
Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, a subsidiary of HSH-Nordbank AG, and
the management of Envitec. This sale is retroactive to 1 January 2003. Both
sides have agreed to maintain silence about the retail price.
Envitec, based in Wismar, specialises in the development and manufacture of
sensors and high quality monitoring equipment for application in the medical,
industrial and environment technology sectors. With a 110-strong workforce,
Envitec achieved a turnover of EUR 11.8 million and an after-tax result of EUR
0.4 million in 2002.
This sale completes Biotests disinvestments in medical technology, in accordance
with the companys strategic review and subsequent reorganisation of its
business portfolio. As part of the reorganisation, Biotest has already
relinquished/sold Biotest Medizintechnik GmbH in Alzenau and Diaclone SAS in
Besançon, France.
Biotests strategy focuses tightly on its core business – the diagnosis and
treatment of immunological disorders and diseases of the haematopoietic system
in the human body. This programme of reorganisation will help Biotest enhance
its position as a global specialist in the developing areas of immunology and
haematology.
