Jettingen-Scheppach, 12 November 2001: CANCOM Ltd., the majority-held subsidiary
of CANCOM IT Systeme AG (German securities code: WKN 541 910) based in
Guildford, Surrey, has acquired the business assets of MacLine Ltd. with effect
from 8 November 2001. Ten former employees of MacLine will be retained to
continue operations without interruption in service. Administration and
logistics will in future be handled from CANCOM Ltd.’s headquarters in
Guildford, an efficiency measure which will create significant potential for
savings.
MacLine, a well-established Apple dealer based in Cambridge, achieved a sales
figure of around DM 20 million last year. MacLine will be reopened as
AppleCentre Cambridge, once again providing a specialist contact for the
regional creative professional market.
Coming just over a month after CANCOM’s takeover of the operations of Mygate
Ltd., the MacLine deal will further expand CANCOM’s Apple business in Britain.
The company’s objective is to become Apple’s largest authorised distributor in
Britain.
The extremely successful concept of regional CANCOM service centres combined
with central logistics – which within a very short time has made CANCOM IT
Systeme AG the market leader in Germany in the field of desktop publishing and
Europe’s number one Apple distributor – is now proving a success in Britain too.
