Turnover remained little changed over the prior year, and net income for the first six months increased by 0.2% over the comparable prior year period. Earnings before interest and tax declined by 2.9%, while profit before tax rose by 1.7%. Shop and gastronomy turnover showed particularly good development. These figures were announced by the members of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG, Herbert Kaufmann, Gerhard Schmid and Kurt Waniek, on August 28 at a press conference in Vienna. An architectural competition will be held to select a design for the office park, which is scheduled for completion in 2004. Construction has already started on an office building to provide space needed up to this time and a cargo building for TNT. The logistics centre for UPS will be completed in October of this year. Traffic growth decreased in July. The number of passengers declined by 1.1%, flight movements by 0.7%, and maximum take-off weight by 5.4%. These numbers must be compared to July 2000, however, which demonstrated growth of nearly 10%. For the entire year Herbert Kaufmann, speaker of the Management Board, expects growth of roughly 3% in the number of passengers as well as stagnation in flight movements and a slight decline in maximum take-off weight. end of message, (c)DGAP 28.08.2001
