Cooperation between Vienna International Airport and Bratislava will permit
optimal development of the market.
The “Airport TwoOne” consortium, which is comprised of Flughafen Wien
Aktiengesellschaft, Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (RZB) and Penta
Investment Limited, is optimistic that it will win the tender for partial
privatisation of 66% of the Bratislava and Kosice Airports after a
recommendation to this effect was made by Slovakian Transportation Minister
Pavol Prokopovic. A final decision by the Slovakian government is still
outstanding.
Flughafen Wien AG sees substantial opportunities for the commercial
development of Vienna and Bratislava Airports based on the strong impulses for
growth that are inherent in the Vienna-Lower Austria-Bratislava region. The
number of passengers in this area is forecasted to grow from roughly 17
million today to nearly 30 million in 2015.
The consortium, in which Flughafen Wien AG holds over 50% of the voting
rights, has offered 6 billion SKK (EUR 154 mill.) for the investment in
Bratislava Airport and 900 million SKK (EUR 24 mill.) for the stake in Kosice
Airport. A further 7.9 billion SKK (EUR 203 mill.) have been promised as a
capital contribution for expansion at Bratislava Airport and 380 million SKK
(EUR 10 mill.) for Kosice Airport.
The expansion programme for Bratislava Airport calls for investments totalling
9.37 billion SKK (EUR 240 mill.) during the first five years and covers 22
projects. The highest priority will be given to the expansion of the existing
terminal, renovation of the runways, construction of a new General Aviation
Centre, increase in parking space and addition of another terminal. The
expansion programme for Kosice Airport calls for investments totalling 415.6
million SKK (EUR 11 mill.) during the first five years.
