Preliminary Headline Figures for the Financial Year 2001

Vienna, March 22, 2002 – Telekom Austria (VSE: TKA; NYSE: TKA) announced today
preliminary headline figures for the Financial Year 2001.
– Total managed revenue figures of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom
Austria) increased by 1.2% to EUR 3,943.5million (2000: EUR 3,897.2million).
Total managed Group EBITDA, excluding idle workforce costs, rose by 38.8% to EUR
1,472.8million (2000: EUR 1,060.9million).
– The consolidated revenues of Telekom Austria AG, which include Mobilkom
Austria at equity decreased by 5.5% to EUR 2,659.7 million in the financial year
of 2001 (2000: EUR 2,814.4million). Consolidated EBITDA, excluding idle
workforce costs, increased by 44.8% to EUR 903.7million (2000: EUR
624.3million). Including idle workforce costs, the consolidated EBITDA rose by
38.4% to EUR 853.8million (2000: EUR 616.7million).
– Mobilkom Austria reported an increase in consolidated revenues by 14.1% to EUR
1,713.2million (2000: EUR 1,501.1million). Consolidated EBITDA rose by 30.9% to
EUR 571,3million (2000: EUR 436.6million).
EBITDA is defined as operating income excluding depreciation and amortization.
Costs for idle workforce, which are excluded from total managed EBITDA, include
expenses for employees who have been released or transferred from the work force
as well as cash settlements for civil servants who have agreed to leave with
severance packages. Total costs for idle workforce amounted to EUR 49.9million
in 2001 and EUR 7.6million in 2000.
