Der Teilkonzern hat die US-amerikanische ROLLFORMING CORPORATION (RFC), mit Sitz in Shelbyville, Kentucky, übernommen. Dieses Unternehmen erwirtschaftet mit rund 260 Mitarbeitern derzeit einen Jahresumsatz von 32 Mio $ (435 Mio ATS) und liefert gute Ertragsziffern. Die Schwerpunkte der Aktivitäten von RFC liegen in der Fertigung von Spezialprofilen für den Möbel- und automotiven Bereich, aber auch in der Lieferung von maßgefertigten Sonderprofilen für verschiedenste Anwendungen aus unterschiedlichsten Materialien (Stahl, Alu, Titanlegierungen, etc.). Eine Besonderheit stellt die Erzeugung von Profilen für die Luftfahrtindustrie (z.B. Strukturteile für den Flugzeugrumpf bei BOEING oder Rotorblatt-Versteifungen für BELL-Helicopters oder Profilbauteile für das Spaceshuttle-Programm) dar. Mit bisher sechs Produktionsstandorten in Europa, rund 2000 Mitarbeitern, davon rund die Hälfte im Ausland, erwirtschaftet die VOEST-ALPINE KREMS bisher (ohne der RFC-Akquisition) ein Umsatz von rund 5,5 Mrd. The Krems Group, which is part of the VOEST-ALPINE STAHL GROUP Flat Products Division, has acquired the US ROLLFORMING CORPORATION (RFC). RFC is based in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and with a work force of some 260, has current annual sales of USD 32 million (ATS 435 million) and good profit figures. RFC activities focus on the production of special sections for the furniture and automotive branches, as well as the supply of tailor-made special sections in differing materials (steel, aluminium, titanium alloy, etc.) for a variety of applications. One company speciality is the production of sections for the aerospace industry (e.g. structural components for the rumps of BOEING aircraft, rotor blade struts for BELL helicopters and sections for the Space Shuttle programme). With six production centres in Europe and a work force of some 2,000, of which around half are based outside Austria, the VOEST-ALPINE KREMS Group has sales of approximately ATS 5.5. billion (excluding the RFC acquisition).
