The issuer has the sole responsibility of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– VOEST-ALPINE EUROPLATINEN GmbH & Co.KG, a fully owned subsidary of VOEST-ALPINE STAHL LINZ GmbH, has purchased a 51% interest in the Italian company EUROWELD Srl., Turin, Italys only producer of laser welded blanks for the automotive sector. The production of the italian company in 2001 will amount to some 6 million welded blanks, which are mostly sold to FIAT, Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Sales will total around EUR 32 million (approx. ATS 440 million). VOEST-ALPINE EUROPLATINEN GmbH & Co KG will also produce about 6 million welded blanks in Linz during 2001. The planned production target for 2002 is over 7 million. The main customers are BMW, DaimlerChrysler, PSA, AUDI,SKODA and General Motors. Together, the two companies will constitute the second largest welded blank supplier to the European automotive industry.
