October 2005 – CeWe Color Holding AG (SDAX, ISDN DE 000 540 3901) will be acquiring photofinishing company Standard Photographic in Warwick (south of Birmingham). The acquisition is to take effect on 1 November 2005. Standard Photographic, is one of the leading digital photofinishers in Great Britain. Standard Photographic operates a digital laboratory with a sales volume of Euro 6.3 million. 64 employees process orders for large-scale customers such as Tesco, Asda, Boots, Jessops and Pixology. CeWe Color intends to continue with production in the current production facilities. The Group will be revising the production procedure and will be installing industrial processing technology. CeWe Color is also convinced that the business model can be transposed and that the English digital photographic market can be designed and expanded to become an industrial photofinishing market. The number of photographs being taken will increase as market penetration is enhanced. At present a digital photographer takes around 460 photos per year (previous year: 300 photos). Only 20 % of digital photos taken are printed onto photo paper. Actively addressing and informing consumers will enable the market volume to be increased to the benefit of industrial laboratories provided that the price advantage that industrial laboratories have is passed on to consumers in the form of attractive sales prices.
