| Fair Value Measurements | (14) FAIR VALUE MEASUREMENTS Fair value is defined as the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date. The carrying amounts of cash and cash equivalents reported in the consolidated balance sheets approximates fair value based on current interest rates and short-term maturities. The carrying amount of accounts receivable approximates fair value due to the short-term nature of accounts receivable. The Company believes that the carrying amount of long-term debt approximates fair value due to the variable interest rate on the Company’s long-term debt, as well as that there has been no significant change in the credit risk or credit markets since origination. The Company had no assets measured at fair value in its consolidated balance sheets as of January 3, 2021 and December 29, 2019, except for the assets recorded at fair value in conjunction with restaurant acquisitions and certain assets deemed to be impaired as of January 3, 2021 (see Notes 1 and 2).
