SW Umwelttechnik wins ATS 180 mn Hungarian wastewater contract
The Szalkszentmarton-Tas und Akaszto-Csengöd-Tabdi municipal
wastewater associations, located some 100 km south of Budapest,
have awarded OMS Hungaria Kft the contract for the construction
of the complete wastewater disposal system for the local
authorities in question.
OMS Hungaria Kft, in which SW Umwelttechnik Stoiser & Wolschner
AG holds a 51% interest, is the market leader in Hungary for
biological wastewater treatment plants up to 15,000 population
equivalent (PE) and offers optimized turnkey wastewater disposal
systems.
The contract, with a total value of ATS 180 mn (EUR 13.08 mn),
involves the installation of 150 km of sewerage and two
biological wastewater treatment plants for 7,000 PE and 10,000
PE. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2000.
Among the measures which Hungary must take to qualify for
admission to the EU is compliance with EU Directive 91/271/EEC
concerning the treatment of municipal wastewater. This will
entail increasing the proportion of Hungarian households
connected to a biological wastewater treatment plants from its
present 55% to 86%.
SW Umwelttechnik can also offer, in addition to engineering
services OMS Hungaria Kft, the necessary reinforced concrete pipe
and shaft systems throughout Hungary, through its local
subsidiaries Rocla Hungaria Kft and BVM Mibet Kft. Thanks to
these operations SW Umwelttechnik is one of Hungary’s leading
suppliers of wastewater disposal and treatment products.
