The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– GERICOM: Sales +84%, EBIT and income more than doubled in the 1st half of 2001 Linz, May 23, 2001: As a result of the sustained, dynamic increase in demand for GERICOM-notebooks, GERICOM AG, which is listed on the New Market (WKN 565 773), was again able to grow at a much faster rate than the market. As compared with the first half of the preceding year (EUR 146.02 m), group sales increased by 83.7% to EUR 268.24 m. EBIT stood at EUR 13.31 m, which represented growth of 121.47% over the 1st half of 2000 (EUR 6.01 m). The EBIT margin of 4.96% was well up on the 4.12% of the first half of the previous year. Net income more than doubled in the first half of 2001, totalling EUR 8.90 m (1st half-year 2000: EUR 3.58 m). Earnings per share went up from EUR 0.42 to EUR 0.82, a rise of 94.72%. The success can be mainly attributed to the progressive European expansion and the increase of high-margin direct sales of high-end-notebooks. Against this background, GERICOM is extremely optimistic with regard to the course of business for the remainder of the year 2001. In particular, this confidence derives from the fact that traditionally around 35% of annual turnover is obtained in the fourth quarter of the year.
