Press release Fribourg, 22 January 2016 AEVIS VICTORIA acquires a participation of 40% in the Medgate Group, a leading telemedicine provider in Switzerland Medgate is the leading provider of integrated out-patient healthcare in Switzerland. Thanks to the comprehensive approach of its Telemedicine Center, its Health Centers and its Partner Network, Medgate’s patients benefit from exhaustive, high-quality medical treatment. AEVIS VICTORIA takes a participation of 40% in the Medgate Group, retroactivaly as of January, 1, 2016. The Medgate founders, Andy Fischer and Lorenz Fitzi, remain the majority shareholders. The purchase price is not communicated. Due to the high demand, Medgate has strongly developed its activities during the past 15 years, to become the leading provider of innovative solutions in the field of telemedicine and integrated healthcare. Medgate employs around 300 persons, of which 100 are doctors. Every day, around 4’900 consultations are performed in the telemedicine centres. Since the summer of 2014, Medgate offers its different telemedicine services in Abu Dhabi and since the summer of 2015 also in Australia.
The demand of telemedical consultations is increasing significantly, both in Switzerland and abroad. On the medical side, this growth is driven by the pressure on healthcare costs and the progress in the use of telemedicine sensors. On the technological side, it is driven by the increased availability of powerful transmission technologies.
