COPENHAGEN, March 13, 2019: 5th Planet Games A/S (OMX: FIVEPG) has decided to close its U.K. mobile game studio in Nottingham, laying off the remaining 14 people working there.
The closing of the Nottingham studio is a result of strategic decisions made by the company management, 5th Planet Games CEO Henrik Nielsen explains.
“We have unfortunately not been able to get the expected results out of our Nottingham studio,” says Henrik Nielsen. “In spite of being responsible for launching several games, the Nottingham studio hasn't been able to meet expected goals and KPI's. Therefore we believe that now is the time to take the consequences.”
The closing of the Nottingham studio will result in substantial company savings. This will allow the 5th Planet Games management to focus even further on the other company studios in Rocklin and Berlin.
Both studios are presently developing exciting new games at a very fast pace. The Berlin studio is responsible for building the upcoming ‘Adventures of Tintin’ game, while the Rocklin studio is finalizing the sequel to the smash hit game ‘Dawn of the Dragons.’
Both studios are picking up speed and the games they are developing are looking very promising, Henrik Nielsen explains. The present operations and development responsibilities at the Nottingham studio will henceforth be allocated at the remaining 5th Planet Games office locations.
The management of 5th Planet Games believes that it now has got a lean and efficient organization. This organization will not only be capable of delivering on the games in the pipeline - but it will also be a solid foundation for the further strategic company evolvement, as previously announced.
