In line with our social responsibility approach towards the strategic goals of our company regarding enhancing environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, and competitive power; we would like to kindly disclose our Gebze Graywater Recovery Water Project , which has been carried out in collaboration with a prominent industrial organization in our region as well as with the contributions of Directorate General of ISU. As part of the project which will be commissioned in 2026 , water to be taken from the sea discharge line of Gebze Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant will become industrial process water following an advanced treatment via ultra-filtration with ceramic membranes and reverse osmosis systems that have an efficiency level of 99% . Annually 1,300,000 m³ water will be recovered at the first stage of the project; and depending on the demand, a larger capacity can be reached in the next stages. The system is financed completely by project stakeholders, and the total investment is worth approximately 160 million TL . Following the commissioning of the plant, the infrastructure that will serve the entire region will be completed. Considering the increasing drought threat worldwide due to the adverse impacts of global warming, this project will strengthen water supply security, thus supporting us in sustaining our production without any interruption while also reducing the pressure on natural ecosystem, which corresponds to a visionary and value-adding action for environmental sustainability expectations of stakeholders. Once the project is commissioned:
1. Dependency on municipal water will be reduced by 80%,
2. Our production continuity will be ensured during extreme drought periods,
3. The outlet water of the system will be usable in agricultural activities, thus providing an extra water supply solution for the regions experiencing water scarcity,
4. Thanks to the circular usage of water, positive contributions will be provided in our company's sustainability assessment,
5. Contributions will be achieved to the conservation of natural resources and maintaining the balance of ecosystems,
6. The footprint associated with energy consumption will be reduced and contributions will be made to sustainable development goals .
Furthermore, low-cost, and continuous industrial water supply by the project will make a direct contribution to the competitive power of our company and will become one of the key elements of our sustainable growth strategy. This approach will also consolidate the welfare of the local communities as well as the production capacity of the local economy, which depends on water.
