----------------------------------------------------------------------

Private Equity investment company New Value (SWX: NEWN) actively managed
its portfolio during the third quarter of 2007/2008. New Value granted a
new loan to portfolio company Mycosym International and at the diagnostic
company Swiss Medical Solution, the existing loan was increased by CHF 0.25
million. New Value took advantage of the high share prices of 3S Swiss
Solar Systems and Meyer Burger Technology by profit-taking. In the period
under review, the Net Asset Value remained stable at CHF 29.76 per share
and so did the share price at CHF 22.00. As a consequence, the
Venture-Capital orientated portfolio of New Value did not correlate with
the development of the stock market in general.

Solar industry companies 3S Swiss Solar Systems und Meyer Burger – both
among the top 3 performers of the Swiss stock market in 2007 – contributed
strongly to the favourable development of New Value in the third quarter of
the fiscal year 2007/08 (October to December 2007). In the period under
review, New Value sold 136'913 shares of 3S Swiss Solar Systems at an
average price of CHF 24.83 and purchased 74'650 shares at an average price
of CHF 18.73. In January, after the end of period date, New Value sold
further 20'500 shares at an average price of CHF 26.00. Moreover, New Value
sold 6'500 shares of Meyer Burger Technology at an average price of CHF
382.59 (New Value’s acquisition price was CHF 39.00 at the IPO in November
2006).

Thanks to this profit-taking, the downside movement of the market, and of
the 3S and Meyer Burger share prices in particular, were widely
compensated. The third solar industry company in New Value’s portfolio
changed its name from Solar Plant Swiss AG to Swiss Solar Industries AG
(SSI) at the extraordinary shareholders meeting in January 2008. The
shareholders approved to the capital reduction that was applied by the
board. SSI will invest in existing companies and/or in start-ups across the
entire value added chain in the sector of solar module production, thus
aiming for competitive integration of these businesses. Following
implementation of the transaction described above and the simultaneous
consolidation of the shareholder structure, New Value AG will hold 31.2% of
the share capital of Swiss Solar Industries AG. In addition, New Value has
increased loans at Mycosym International AG by CHF 0.12 million and at the
diagnostic company Swiss Medical Solution AG by CHF 0.25 million.

At this stage, New Value is in the process of evaluating potential new
investments. In the upcoming months, New Value seeks to invest part of the
cash (amounting to approx. CHF 18 millions by the end of 2007) in two to
three companies in the IT and technology sectors.
