The start of an apprenticeships gives new trainees and students the opportunity to deepen their interests, discover new skills and gain their first practical experience in the working world. Swisscom supports talented young people on the path to the networked future and creates an environment in which they can develop and take on responsibility. Under the motto 'Discover your possibilities', Swisscom trains around 700 apprentices across Switzerland. That includes 24 students who are completing a practical bachelor’s degree in information technology.
This year, 186 apprentices are entering vocational training in IT (application and platform development), interactive media design, mediamatics, commercial and retail professions, and digital business development (Federal VET Diploma). There are also nine students in the practical bachelor’s degree programme in information technology. At the subsidiary cablex, 15 apprentices are starting their Federal VET Diploma apprenticeships as electricians, network electricians (with a focus on telecommunications) and assembly electricians.
Stefanie Gansterer, Head of Next Generation: 'Our apprentices and students bring new perspectives, fresh attitudes and ideas, and a great deal of curiosity and new approaches to our company. It is great, and highly rewarding, to see them develop, take on responsibility and find their own path during their apprenticeship. And it’s wonderful to be able to support them as they do so. At the same time, there is also great added value for us as a company as we learn from each other. Apprentices keep the company close to the next generation, their needs, expectations and ways of thinking. This is important not only for our own ongoing development, but for Swisscom as a whole.
